CHURCHWAY DAYBREAK

Known at home as ‘Tucker’, Churchway Daybreak was bought through the BCPS Sales List that I was running at the time. He was bred by Debbie Tucker, in Devon and is by the Sup. Chp. Spinway Comet.
His dam, Cluggan Drama was given to Debbie by the late Pam Forman when Debbie worked for Pam. The Cluggan prefix has become well known for this line of ponies.
Tucker is a small stallion standing only 13.1 hands high. He has a good temperament correct conformation and great free movement. Being a hard colour, will not produce blue eyed cream offspring.
 

I acquired Tucker in the Autumn of his 4yr old year and he was broken the following spring by Rebecca Smith, shortly before riding him at the Stoneleigh Stallion Parade in 1997.
He was not ridden again until the Autumn of 1998 when Nicola White, after leaving University spent a few months riding him and teaching him to jump! They had fun riding the South Oxfordshire Sponsored Ride.
In 1999, I worried that he might be bored with his lot and asked Karen Bassett to break him to drive. It was a real treat to see him driven and especially by Karen who is just brilliant!
In January 2000 Tucker went to Frances, Fiona and Felicity Goodsir. Frances schooled him and competed in Dressage, SJ and WHP competitions. In just four months they obtained performance points, which enabled Tucker to get his Society Ridden Stallion Award.
 

Tucker really likes to be ridden and he was delighted when Hannah Daniels agreed to ride him at the Stallion Parade held at Arena UK in September 2003. The smile on Hannah’s face when she first jumped him, said ‘Wow’!!
It shows the great temperament of this pony that we can just saddle up, after long periods of time and he seems not to have forgotten anything he has been taught.
His children do seem to inherit a lot of his characteristics. They all move very well, are confident in their work and go in a good outline.
